Indigo Hamlet: Hypoplectrus indigo
Hamlets belong to the family of Basses and are found in the tropical Atlantic ocean. They include the yellowtail hamlet, the shy hamlet, the golden hamlet and a few others.
Indigo Hamlets are functional hermaphrodites. Each fish can produce both eggs or sperm
at any time. They avoid self-fertilization by releasing only sperm or eggs in
conjunction with another fish assuming the other role.
